As gamers, we all know what it’s like to burn out on our favourite games. Sometimes, we recover and get right back on the horse. Other times it can take a shake up in order to get things back on track. It’s especially important as streamers to be consistent, but what can you do when that consistency gets to you? We all know strategy games like Hearthstone and Teamfight Tactics can wear on you. The amount of randomness and coincidences that seem like the odds are stacked against you can be infuriating. Let’s go over some strategies to tackle what happens when you’re getting tired
A lot of streamers will play other games off-stream. They will save their core game for stream so they have a better chance of enjoying it. Even if you don’t stream, a session of Candy Crush can shake up your mentality enough for you to get through any blocks you’re having. Try limiting your main gaming sessions to your Game, and avoid spending extra time on it. That can make it feel more like you’re spinning your wheels.
Change the Beat
If you stream or game daily, choose a day to shake things up. Maining Hearthstone can be gruelling and frustrating. Add a weekly Fall Guys Friday into the mix. Or a Throwback Thursday where you only play Sega Genesis games. You can use the scheduled time away to help your mentality when you’re struggling. Look forward to the time away! Make it a mini-vacation. Another way you can accomplish this is to change game modes. Hearthstone in particular has a plethora of other ways to play the game, including solo mode, Arena, Duels, and Battlegrounds. Heck, if all you play is Standard, try your hand at Wild! Who knows what can happen!
Speaking of vacations – when things get dire, or there’s a lot of other things on your plate, don’t be afraid to take a weekend off. Sometimes limiting your screen time can be that refresher you need. Catch up on that show you’re a few episodes behind on. Catch a sports game at the local pub. If it’s gotten that bad, don’t feed into it. If it gets too frustrating, you may never come back. Sadge. You can always take it easy until the next expansion. Whether that’s stepping away from the game all-together, or maybe playing a game or two of Casual to keep things fresh in mind until the next patch comes along.
All of these recommendations are pretty simple but effective. Avoiding burnout isn’t rocket science. We like to see our community healthy and happy, so please keep these things in mind when you’re scheduling your sessions.
