GuyGrumpy Charity Stream

GuyGrumpy to run Charity Stream Benefitting Northwest Kidney Kids

March is Kidney Disease Awareness Month, so when Guygrumpy was asked by Jillyb, his better half and the Executive Director of Northwest Kidney Kids (NWKK), to participate in a fundraiser, how could he refuse? The 501.3c nonprofit is especially important to Guy and Jilly as their 10 year old daughter “Cookies” had a kidney transplant at age 3 and Jilly was her donor. They understand first hand the struggles of having a child living with end stage kidney disease, and this nonprofit provides programs, education, and support for these children.

The idea sprung from a new program NWKK is spilling up called the Young Ambassadors Program, which leverages young adults who have been through the program to offer support and mentorship to children with chronic kidney disease, and modernize their interactions — even expanding beyond the Pacific Northwest by creating a new podcast to educate and entertain. A few of the members of the Young Ambassadors are budding streamers, and decided they wanted to use the Twitch platform as a way to raise awareness to their cause (and hopefully raise some funds to cover the expenses of the new program). Because this coincided with the 15-year birthday of the organization, they’ve organized 15 days of streaming in support of this.

Guygrumpy will be running his charity stream on Friday, March 19, starting shortly after 5pm Pacific Time (US), and running until about 10pm Pacific. For this stream, expect a heavy dose of playing with viewers as NWKK Executive Director Jillyb joins him for Hearthstone Battlegrounds, board games through BoardGameArena, and several special activities triggered by fundraising milestones — expect pies in the face, TikTok dances, and possibly even the Death Nut Challenge, among others!

I have been playing video games since before most of you were born, starting with Colecovision and an Atari 2600. Before esports were around, I played Rainbow Six 2: Rogue Spear at the highest competitive level. Now a father thrice over, I spend some of my extra time streaming games like Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone and most recently Fortnite.
