Hearthstone Meta Report – April 9

Introduction
Welcome to On the Horizen, your one-stop-shop for everything to know about the current standard meta provided by members of the Hype Horizen team themselves! Every Friday you can expect a detailed report on the meta as a whole and some tips for how to maneuver through it. This will also be a hot spot for other articles written by team members. PLEASE NOTE: All information is based on personal experience + personal statistics gathered through many hours of high-level gameplay.

Meta Overview
Forged in the Barrens launched only 11 days ago and most people in the Hearthstone community are well over it already, including myself. As you probably know, the meta is being dominated by No Minion Mage and Libram Secret Paladin. This is because those two decks are way stronger than anything else that can be made. This is made evident not only by ladder statistics, but also Blizzard themselves announcing upcoming changes targeting those classes. Players are having mild success with other decks like control warlock and priest, but you are simply at a disadvantage playing anything other than the 2 outlier decks.

Best Decks
There is not much to say about the best decks that has not been said many times before. No Minion Mage and Libram Secret Paladin will continue to be the top decks until changes arrive early next week. There are however other decks that seem quite strong and can scrape out some wins. We will likely (hopefully) see a big change in the best decks after changes enter the game.

Closing Thoughts
This meta has been called “the worst meta of all time” by many high-level players and streamers. At this point all we can do is just await the upcoming changes and hope Blizzard solves all the issues. Besides the blatant imbalance, there are a lot of bugs present in the game.

Whether you choose to play the overpowered decks or not, it is not the player’s fault they exist, all the blame in on Blizzard for allowing this to happen. I personally like playing other decks to prepare for the balance patch, but I cannot fault people for wanting to get “easy” wins and legend beforehand as well. The patch was announced to drop early next week, people are anticipating Tuesday based on previous updates.
