Introduction
Welcome to On the Horizen, your one-stop-shop for everything to know about the current standard meta provided by members of the Hype Horizen team themselves! Every Friday you can expect a detailed report on the meta as a whole and some tips for how to maneuver through it. This will also be a hot spot for other articles written by team members. PLEASE NOTE: All information is based on personal experience + personal statistics gathered through many hours of high-level gameplay.
Meta Overview
With the expansion being out for about 10 days now we are starting to get a decent idea of what is good and what is not so good. With decks like OTK Demon Hunter and Quest Warlock being prominent in the current meta, it makes it hard for decks that look to out resource others, such as Control Priest from the previous meta to exist. Nerfs have been announced for early next week which I assume will look to slow down the current OTK decks which look to kill or pop off as early as turn 6. With the gameplan of OTK decks slowed down a tad I think we could have a healthy version of this really enjoyable meta. However, there is always the chance (God forbid) that Control Priest becomes broken again.
Best Decks
Although early in the expansion, some of the top decks include OTK Demon Hunter, Quest Warlock, Face Hunter and Quest Mage. There are many other good/viable decks which are okay now and might become even stronger after the nerfs early next week which include Handbuff Paladin, Quest Rogue, Elemental Shaman and Shadow Priest.

Closing Thoughts
With the date of balance changes closing in I’d recommend holding out crafting anything new until we see what is getting changed. There are bad decks you can play in order to counter some of the current overpowered decks. One way to do this is to play Garrote Rogue. This deck will beat most of the OTK decks as it OTK’s the fastest, however you will struggle against anything that plays for the board. I’m sure there are other ways you could counter the meta it might just take some experimenting. I am personally really enjoying the early ‘United in Stormwind’ meta and hope the balance changes do not change this.
