Hearthstone Meta Report – December 17

Introduction
Welcome to On the Horizen, your one-stop-shop for everything to know about the current standard meta provided by members of the Hype Horizen team themselves! Every Friday you can expect a detailed report on the meta as a whole and some tips for how to maneuver through it. This will also be a hot spot for other articles written by team members. PLEASE NOTE: All information is based on personal experience + personal statistics gathered through many hours of high-level gameplay.

Meta Overview
Today we will be reviewing the decks brought to Thursday Night Throwdown. What better way to get your meta report than to rank ACTUAL tournament results. TNT is our monthly instalment tournament in which players play in the Standard format for prizes worth up to $100USD. We usually attract crowds around 64 people, however in this Invitational we kept it small and changed the format to Swiss.

Best Decks
Stable decks are still showing strong. With Garrote Rogue and Face Hunter being fairly common among the crowd. However, those decks didn’t necessarily acheive the highest winrates. Our winner Aquaman had the following 3 decks: Celestial Druid, Quest Warlock, and Face Hunter. Below find rankings based on Win Rate for the Thursday Night Throwdown Invitational.

Final Thoughts
It was really fun to see a Swiss tournament instead of single elimination. We had some great moments during the tournament. People showed off some great deck choices, and I feel a lot of these decks will come to shape the meta going forward. Stay tuned to World Championships on YouTube this weekend. Where Hype Horizen’s own McBanterface competes for the top spot in the World!

I have been playing video games since before most of you were born, starting with Colecovision and an Atari 2600. Before esports were around, I played Rainbow Six 2: Rogue Spear at the highest competitive level. Now a father thrice over, I spend some of my extra time streaming games like Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone and most recently Fortnite.
