Hearthstone Meta Report – December 18

Introduction | December 18 Hearthstone Meta
Welcome to On the Horizen, your one-stop-shop for everything to know about the current standard meta provided by members of the Hype Horizen team themselves! Every Friday you can expect a detailed report on the meta as a whole and some tips for how to maneuver through it. This will also be a hot spot for other articles written by team members. PLEASE NOTE: All information is based on personal experience + personal statistics gathered through many hours of high-level gameplay.

Meta Overview | December 18 Hearthstone Meta
With the recent nerfs still fresh, the meta is beginning to change quickly. The previously dominant Demon Hunter decks no longer seem to be big threats, and the meta is adapting as a result. Nerfs targeted at Hunter make Rexxar even weaker, while Shaman and Rogue look like the biggest winners of Demon Hunter’s reduced presence on ladder. Warrior was perhaps fortunate to dodge any nerfs, while Mage, Warlock, and Druid continue to struggle.

Best Decks | December 18 Hearthstone Meta
Secret Rogue, Whirlkick Rogue, and Evolve Shaman represent over 30% of ladder at high levels of play, and it is for a good reason. Those three decks have emerged as frontrunners for the king of the current meta, so your best choice for climbing will be one of those decks. If you’re looking to play something other than those three decks, you’ll want to ensure that whatever you play has an acceptable matchup spread against those decks to avoid a frustrating ladder experience.

Closing Thoughts | December 18 Hearthstone Meta
People are still adapting to the recent nerfs, and the meta is not set in stone. While a few classes certainly stand out right now, there is plenty of time for the others to refine their decks to counter an expected Rogue, Shaman, and Warrior meta. Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you all on ladder soon!
