Welcome to On the Horizen, your one-stop-shop for everything to know about the current standard meta provided by members of the Hype Horizen team themselves! Every Friday you can expect a detailed report on the meta as a whole and some tips for how to maneuver through it. This will also be a hot spot for other articles written by team members. PLEASE NOTE: All information is based on personal experience + personal statistics gathered through many hours of high-level gameplay.
It has only been a short while since the latest patch has been released, but things have already shaken up quite a bit. Priest and token druid being the targets of the nerfs, have seen a dramatic decrease in play and success. This decrease can be temporary though, as there are still many things to test. The meta seems to be comprised of mostly Malygos (Jambre) druid, rush/control Warrior, OTK/Deathrattle Demon Hunter, and miracle Rogue currently.
The top decks are mostly made up of previous tier 2 decks. This is due to the new matchup spread that is developed by priest and token druid being less prevalent. Please keep in mind that this tier list is only two days after the nerfs, so it may be subject to change.
Tier 1: July 16 Hearthstone Meta
Tier 2: July 16 Hearthstone Meta
Tier 3: July 16 Hearthstone Meta
Tier 4: July 16 Hearthstone Meta
The meta has shifted immediately following the recent nerfs, but the overall meta feels very similar. While a lot of people (including myself) would have liked to see more changes in this last patch, my theory is that the Hearthstone team is setting up for the next expansion, United in Stormwind. This theory gives me hope that the struggling classes/archetypes will get a nice, fun boost. Be sure to get as much gold and rewards before United in Stormwind releases August 3rd!
