Hearthstone Meta Report – July 23

Welcome to On the Horizen, your one-stop-shop for everything to know about the current standard meta provided by members of the Hype Horizen team themselves! Every Friday you can expect a detailed report on the meta as a whole and some tips for how to maneuver through it. This will also be a hot spot for other articles written by team members. PLEASE NOTE: All information is based on personal experience + personal statistics gathered through many hours of high-level gameplay.

Meta Overview
The current meta is approaching the end with the new expansion coming out on August 3rd, yet some new decks are still emerging. Since Gibberling was nerfed to 2 mana, a new version of it, Anacondra druid, appears frequently on ladder. Priest feels a lot weaker compared to before since the burst healing was greatly nerfed, and control warrior is seeing an edge due to an increase in druids and rogues.

Best Decks
Current solid decks include OTK Demon Hunter, Miracle Rogue, Anacondra/Malygos druid, and rush warrior. Control Warrior, Priest, as well as greedy decks such as Deathrattle Demon Hunter and Spell Mage could be decent depending on the local meta.

Closing Thoughts

The amount of stats from all the games played after Priest nerf is far from sufficient to see a well organized tier list, as most people have not been playing as much due to the upcoming expansion release. If you are trying to climb, however, it is best to find the deck most suitable to your local meta for the best climbing results. Overall, try to stick to decks that counter most others on the ladder and you are comfortable with.

I have been playing video games since before most of you were born, starting with Colecovision and an Atari 2600. Before esports were around, I played Rainbow Six 2: Rogue Spear at the highest competitive level. Now a father thrice over, I spend some of my extra time streaming games like Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone and most recently Fortnite.
