Hearthstone Meta Report – July 9

Introduction

Welcome to On the Horizen, your one-stop-shop for everything to know about the current standard meta provided by members of the Hype Horizen team themselves! Every Friday you can expect a detailed report on the meta as a whole and some tips for how to maneuver through it. This will also be a hot spot for other articles written by team members. PLEASE NOTE: All information is based on personal experience + personal statistics gathered through many hours of high-level gameplay.

Meta Overview

Due to the lack of balance changes, we haven’t really seen many changes if any to the current meta. We did get the release of a new card, ‘Flightmaster Dungar’, and people were testing this guy in various decks for the first couple days of his release before ultimately deciding that he just wasn’t very good. The major changes we have seen has been due to the refinement of Shaman. We seem to have pretty much settled on a hybrid version of Elemental Shaman and Doomhammer shaman. This deck is really the only thing that gives Priest a run for its money as it remains consolidated at the top of the tier list. Priest has been dominating for a while now and many people have been calling for a nerf to the class or buffs to other classes for the last few weeks.

Best Decks

Aggro Shaman is one of the best decks because of its good matchup spread including its favorable matchup against Priest. Other top decks include Miracle Rogue, OTK Demon Hunter, Rush Warrior and Token Druid. Control Priest is of course extremely powerful too and will continue to be the best deck until the new set in a month’s time or until we see balance changes.

Closing Thoughts

The meta is almost completely solved, or at least people believe it is and as long as everyone believes its solved no one will look for new ideas/decks. Balance changes/ United in Stormwind cannot come soon enough. If you want to win on ladder right now you have to play Priest or a meta

deck that can beat Priest, such as Aggro Shaman or No Minion Mage, otherwise Hearthstone tends to be excited after approximately 2 games. Good luck on ladder and bring on United in Stormwind.
