Monetization systems in video games are a delicate subject for some, especially because there are those who see it as a kind of evil plan on the part of the companies to just get money out of us, which would be correct if it were not for the small detail that the games do not appear by magic.
That said, I’m going to focus on the monetization of 2 specific card games, Hearthstone and Marvel SNAP. Let’s remember the premise I already established in this post a few weeks ago, everyone does with their money what they want, however I will try to be as objective and unbiased as I can.
Every game needs to have a return on investment, development, artists, servers, marketing, all that costs money and all that is important when launching a game whatever it is. Sometimes it amazes me how easily those of us who make life within the communities issue opinions that such a game should give us more resources for free for no other reason than: because, yes, because we play the game.

There are several ways to earn money, Hearthstone for example has runes to buy things within the game, bundles and skins and marvel snap has bundles with collector tokens, credits, variants, backs and skins. But there is a difference in both games and what they sell, I feel somehow that, Hearthstone, if we had to compare and say who is more P2W between the two, would be who would take that place. Snap has an advantage (and that doesn’t make it better) and that is that all the cards in the game can be obtained easily and for free, in Hearthstone it is much more difficult (I’m obviously talking about the past expansions) and since there are so many, it will obviously take you a lot of time to get them.
But this post does not seek to stir passions or say which game is better, both games are huge and very good, what I want you to understand is that companies do not owe us anything because we buy something, because I repeat, it is your money, you do what you want with your money, companies will not worry if you do not give them your money because there will be others who do and with that they can continue paying developers and artists for the game to continue. Monetization is extremely important and even if you believe that a company is better than another just because they give you more stuff, you are giving them your money so it is not free, things are never free, someone else pays for what you call free, it happens in games and it happens in real life, it is very subjective to say it is expensive or cheap, because not everyone sees money in the same way, think about it before saying something that does not make sense.
